The debian "gedit" package recently lost it's eel and refused to load. This is the software equivalent of jumping the shark. Bereft of my least hated programmer's editor, I was forced to write my own.

Allow me to introduce: yaedit - yet another editor

If there's anything I want to be widely adopted from this editor, it's selection prefix editing. This is a generic way to indent, unindent, and comment out lines of code. It make no assumptions about your indentation style, and supports comments in any language. Go try it now, I think you'll like it.
